Armed with a roster of musicians from backgrounds ranging from rock, southern rock, jazz, country, blues, and Big Band, Deep Blue Jones has established itself as a leader in the music scene of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. DBJ was originally formed in 1998 and most recently reorganized in 2004 and again in 2006. The band members originate from various cities in central and western Virginia.
Rich in harmonies and high-energy blues and southern rock, DBJ has built up a sizeable following with its party-ready tunes; however this band is ready for something more than the average Valley nightclub, and their music reflects this. The band attempts to make each cover tune unique by leveraging their individual influences. With strong, gutsy vocals, twin lead guitars, wailing harmonica, and driving bass and drums, the result is a powerful blues and rock sound that has become their trademark.
DBJ mixes in a healthy dose of original material, ranging in styles from straight ahead Blues, to Southern Rock, Swing and Memphis style R&B. The variety of music played will ensure that there is something for everyone, including the dancers in the crowd. They have developed a reputation for putting on a great live show, playing full out whether it’s for 5 or 500 people.
The band takes pride in their ability to read their audience and target their music accordingly. This has been a key contributor to the quality of their live shows and to their reputation as a “must-see” act. Every show is different, so it never gets old!
